Eligibility Passed Madhyamik Examination (Class 10) of WBBSE or equivalent; speak, read, and write Bengali/Nepali language

Exam Pattern Preliminary Written Test & Final Written Exam

The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board conducts this exam to hire constables in the Kolkata Police department. The selection process has a Preliminary written test, physical measurement and efficiency tests, a Final written exam, and an interview. The written syllabus covers General Awareness, Mathematics, Reasoning, and English. General Awareness and local geography questions carry significant weightage. Preliminary Written Test

MCQ | 100 Questions | 100 Marks | 1 Hour | +1 mark for correct, -0.25 (1/4th) for incorrect. Prelims is screening test, marks not counted for final merit.

Geography: Rivers, boundaries, soils, topography of WB and India
Polity: Indian Constitution, Parliament, Judiciary
Science: Basic concepts in Physics, Chemistry, Life Science
Sports: Tournaments, rules, awards; National & International Awards
Current Affairs: National, international, and regional events

Elementary Mathematics 30 Marks

Number System, Decimals, Fractions, Indices
Simplification, LCM, and HCF
Ratio and Proportion
Percentage, Profit, Loss, and Discount
Simple Interest and Average
Time and Work, Time and Distance

Reasoning 30 Marks

Coding and Decoding
Series: Number, Letter, and Symbol series
Blood Relations and family trees
Direction Sense Test
Analogy, classification, and odd-one-out

Final Written Exam

MCQ | 85 Questions | 85 Marks | 1 Hour | +1 mark for correct, -0.25 (1/4th) for incorrect. Determines final merit list combined with Interview (15 Marks).

English 10 Marks

Correct use of Articles and Prepositions
